Our Story

Kim Chan Events is owned and operated by Kim Chan, an entrepreneur from a young age with a passion for creativity. After creating her first florist business Corporate Stems, Kim moved to Hong Kong in 1999. Here she created Kim Chan Flowers and travelled Europe, learning valuable insight into international floristry practices. After the birth of her son, Kim returned home to Christchurch.

In 2013, Kim rebranded Kim Chan Flowers to Kim Chan Events – creating a florist and event styling company that would stand apart from other florists. More than just flowers, more than just event styling, and built on the pillars of sustainability, Kim Chan Events provided a new opportunity for customers to have their events designed, styled and created from start to finish, as well as find their florist for life.

In 2020, world events led to the cancellation of all events and weddings in New Zealand. To bring cheer to those in lockdown, Kim created “how to” videos so that followers could create beautiful flower arrangements from whatever they had growing in their own garden. She also built an online store to sell wow factor flowers for delivery and flower subscriptions with contactless delivery.

Now that the pandemic is passing, we are excited to once again serve all our customers, whatever size wedding or event they have planned.
